Membership and Gyro News subscription Renewals
To renew your membership enter the ASRA member administration database here. NOTE - login to members section is the same as member DB
New members can download the Membership Application Form, and post/email the completed form to the ASRA Registrar using the address on form with your membership fee or a completed ASRA Credit Card Authorisation form.
All ASRA Pilot Certificate holders must also complete their annual number of hours flown to comply with CASA requirements. These can be submitted on the membership application or online in the ASRA member administration database here.
If you are a magazine subscriber rather than an ASRA member and wish to renew your magazine subscription download the ASRA Gyro News Subscription form, complete and post/email to the ASRA Registrar using the address on form with your fee or a completed ASRA Credit Card Authorisation form.
Renewal of Gyroplane Registration
It is a requirement of CASA that all gyroplanes are registered with ASRA with current ownership details and all major modifications are kept up-to-date.
To renew your gyroplane registration enter the ASRA member administration database here.
download the Gyroplane Registration, Renewal & Transfer Form, and post/email to the ASRA Registrar (use the Registrar’s address on form) with your fee or a completed ASRA Credit Card Authorisation form.
New Gyroplane Registrations or Change of Ownership
All new gyroplane registrations and transfer of ownership must be notified via the Gyroplane Registration, Renewal & Transfer Form, and post/email your completed form with a current image of a close-up side profile of your gyroplane to the ASRA Registrar using the address on form with your fee or a completed ASRA Credit Card Authorisation form.
It is a requirement of CASA that all major modifications are signed off by an ASRA Technical Advisor and recorded.
Only an ASRA Technical Advisor has the database permissions to update specifications of a gyroplane record in the ASRA member administration database. So once a TA has approved any major modifications to your gyro ensure that they have updated the specifications of your gyro in the registration record under your entry in the ASRA member administration database.
Post the completed form signed by the TA with a current image of a close-up side profile of your gyroplane to the ASRA Registrar who will then issue a Type Acceptance Certificate.
ASRA, under CASA regulations, requires pilots to provide evidence that they are medically fit to operate a gyroplane and hold a pilot certificate.
The medical standard for gyroplane pilots flying solo is the equivalent to that required for an Australian motor vehicle driver’s licence.
The ASRA Membership Application has a medical section that must be completed and signed by all members before flying as a solo pilot or student pilot in a gyroplane. This medical declaration is a copy of the F011A.
This F011 medical section is in 2 parts, section A & B. If you have had, or are currently suffering from, any of the medical conditions listed in Section A on the form you must not sign the self-assessment declaration. Instead you are required to have your doctor sign F011 Section B. F011 can be downloaded here.
Pilots with a passenger carrying endorsement or instructor ratings cannot use the medical section on the membership form. Instead you must submit either a current CASA Class 2 Pilot Medical Certificate or an ASRA F010 Medical Examiners Certificate.
The examining doctor must be made aware that the medical is to be carried out to the Commercial Drivers Standard and that its purpose is for Sports Aviation, not Commercial Aviation use. Therefore the Commercial Medical Examiners Certificate is not acceptable to ASRA on its own. The F010 must be signed by your doctor.
Updated ASRA medical certification must be undertaken at least every 4 years for persons under 40 years of age, and every 2 years for those 40 years of age or over. Specific medical conditions may require more frequent certification and under certain circumstances “for cause” examinations may be required.
Members with internet access can use the online ASRA member administration database to keep their medicals up to date. With the exception of the solo medical, all other signed medicals will need to be scanned and uploaded to the member’s database record using the procedure in the Online Database Manual available from here (add link).
Alternatively you can post or email completed medical forms to the ASRA Registrar.
Contact the ASRA Registrar to clarify any issues.
Public Liability Insurance
All ASRA members who are pilots are covered for $1,000,000 public liability. Pilots with passenger carrying endorsements have a further $250,000 cover for passengers.
ASRA acts as the broker for QBE and collects the premiums as a mandatory levy added to annual membership fees.
Public Liability cover for more than $1,000,000 may be available through QBE on a case by case basis.
In addition, QBE offers hull insurance for individual gyroplanes on a case by case basis.
NB: All pilots should be aware that all Public Liability Insurance claims are subject to the pilot being fully compliant with the ASRA Operations manual at the time of the claim.
ASRA’s Aviation Legal Liability Policy information and Certificate of Currency are available via the links below.
The ASRA Registrar provides facilities for purchases by credit card. You can download the Credit Card Authorisation form to complete and forward accordingly.
