OVERSEAS VISITING PILOTS

Requirements for overseas pilots to fly gyros in Australia

ASRA makes provision for pilots visiting from other countries who wish to fly gyros in Australia. This policy is in line with that of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of Australia.

It is necessary for the pilot to produce an accepted foreign licence or certificate or a copy thereof, together with a copy of the last page of their pilot logbook. The pilot must then join ASRA on a temporary basis with pro rata membership being available for periods of 3 and 6 months. A solo medical form is included on the ASRA Membership form and must be completed. If wishing to carry passengers, additionally the pilot must comply with the medical requirements specified on ASRA Form F010 Medical Examiners Certificate. This medical can be conducted by a local doctor.

Once these procedures are complete, a flight check with an ASRA instructor or higher is required and if satisfactory, an ASRA pilot certificate will be issued.

Gyroplanes imported into Australia must be registered with ASRA before any flight within Australia is attempted. Contact the Operations Manager for more details.
